Moses Rotich is a 14 year old boy in the special needs class.  He was found on the streets and is non-verbal, so his background is unknown. He shows improvement in understanding and following instructions since being at Tania.

 

Virginia Wanjiku is a 10 year old girl in Class 5.  She was brought to the Tania Centre from the local police station after being found in the streets with her three siblings, Daisy Wanjiru, Humphrey Chege, and an older brother who is not at the centre.  They came from a single mother who abandoned them, and whose whereabouts are unknown.  Virginia is a bright student who is at the top of her class.

 

Lewis Kaiga is a 6 year old boy in Class 3.  He was brought to the Tania Centre from the local police station with four siblings, Ann Muthoni, Faith Mumbi, Moris Ndungu, and Valentine Njeri, after being abandoned by their single mother.  Her location was traced, but she did not return for her children.  Lewis brings a smile to everyone he meets at the centre.

 

Kelvin Mwenda is a 12 year old boy in Class 7.  He came to the centre after being abandoned with his brother, Antony Kimathi.  Kelvin is a quiet, studious boy who works hard to please his teachers.

 

Daisy Wanjiru is a 7 year old girl in Class 2, known by her nickname, Shiro.  She was brought to the Tania Centre from the local police station after being found in the streets with her three siblings, Virginia Wanjiku, Humphrey Chege, and an older brother who is not at the centre. They came from a single mother who abandoned them, and whose whereabouts are unknown.

 

Antony Kimathi is an 11 year old boy in Class 6.  He came to the centre after being abandoned with his brother, Kelvin Mwenda.  Antony enjoys playing soccer in P.E. and after school.

 

Abigael Nayanui is a 14 year old girl in Class 7.  She came to the centre after being rescued from an unsafe living situation.  Abigael enjoys singing with the worship team in church services.

 

Noel Gisore is a 13 year old boy in the special needs class.  He was referred to Tania from another children’s home. He has special needs and was abandoned during post-election violence in 2007/2008.  Noel is very affectionate and loves giving and receiving hugs.

 

Valentine Njeri is a 6 year old girl in the baby class, known by her nickname, Kanje.  She was brought to the centre from the Kiserian police station with her four siblings (Ann Muthoni, Faith Mumbi, Moris Ndungu, and Lewis Kaiga). They were abandoned by a single mother who was traced, but did not return for her children.  Kanye has excellent English for her age and has a very outgoing personality that puts a smile on everyone’s faces.

 

Mercy Joy Naserian is a 5 year old girl in the baby class.  She was referred to Tania from Kiserian police station after being abandoned by her mother, who has never been traced.  Naserian is a very happy little girl who loves to make her friends smile.

 

Humphrey Chege is a 7 year old boy in class 2.  He was brought to centre from local police station with his 3 siblings (Virginia Wanjiku, Daisy Wanjiru, and an older brother who is not at the centre).  They were found in the streets after being abandoned by their single mother who has not yet been traced.  Humphrey works hard in school and always tries to be at the top of his class.

 

Moreen Karimi is a 12 year old girl in class 6.  She is a rescue case, and sister to Betty Kagwiria.  Moreen has an infectious personality and loves to help care for the teachers’ babies.

 

Joyce Wanjiru is a 13 year old girl in the special needs class, known by her nickname, Kasupu.  Kasupu was referred to Tania from another children’s home after being abanonded during post-election violence in 2007/2008.  Kasupu loves to help out her friends in class, making sure everyone knows where to be and what to do.

 

Lucy Wanja is 15 year old girl in the special needs class.  She was brought to Tania after being abandoned.  Lucy is typically quiet, but has a big personality that comes out when he gets to dance or catwalk in front of the school.

 

Raphael Kimathi is a 13 year old boy in class 6.  He came to the centre after being orphaned.  Raphael enjoys sports and shows promising musical ability.

 

Faith Mumbi is a 13 year old girl class 7.  She was brought to centre from Kiserian police station with her four siblings (Ann Muthoni, Valentine Njeri, Moris Ndungu, and Lewis Kaiga).  They were abandoned by a single mother who was traced, but did not return for her children.  Faith is a bright student who loves to please her teachers and make her friends happy.

 

Mary Wanjiku is an 11 year old girl in class 6.  She is a rescue case who came to the centre earlier this year.  Mary is a quiet girl whose personality comes out when she gets to be comfortable.  She loves to look for life lessons in stories and cartoons.

 

Ann Muthoni is a 17 year old girl in the special needs class.  She was brought to centre from Kiserian police station with her four siblings (Valentine Njeri, Faith Mumbi, Moris Ndungu, and Lewis Kaiga). They were abandoned by a single mother who was traced, but did not return for her children.  Ann has learned a lot about bead working and making mats in the special needs class, and hopes to open her own shop in the future.

 

Moris Ndungu is a 7 year old boy in class 2.  He was brought to centre from Kiserian police station with his four siblings (Ann Muthoni, Faith Mumbi, Valentine Njeri, and Lewis Kaiga).  They were abandoned by a single mother who was traced, but did not return for her children.  Moris loves to play with the centre’s dogs and works hard on his English.

 

Betty Kagwiria is an 11 year old girl in class 6.  She is rescue case who was brought to the centre, along with her sister Moreen.  Betty loves helping to care for the teachers’ babies and is always looking for ways to help out around the compound.

 

Charity Wairimu is a girl approximately 13 years old in the special needs class.  She was rescued from a national park several years ago, where she was found living with a group of baboons.  She is not able to communicate or care for herself, so we have no way of finding out about her background.  Charity was named for one of the park rangers who rescued her.

 

Moses Isinya is a 15 year old boy in the special needs class.  He came to the centre as a rescue case.  Isinya is a very polite boy who speaks quietly and loves to observe others.

 

Jedidah Gatabi is a 12 year old girl in class 6.  She came to the centre earlier this year as a rescue case.  Jedidah works hard in class and loves to learn new things.

 

Mike Kinyua is a 13 year old boy in class 8.  He is brother to David Karani, who came to the centre when they were abandoned.  Mike is a natural student who learns quickly and always comes out at the top of his class.

 

David Karani is a 16 year old boy in class 8.  He started Form 1 at the beginning of the year, but had to drop out and return to class 8 when he had no funding for school fees.  He is brother to Mike Kinyua, who came to the centre when they were abandoned.  David loves spending time with his friends and on the sports field.

 

Risper Fiona Kendi is a 13 year old girl in class 8.  She came to the centre as a rescue case with her brother, Tony Mutethia.  Fiona is a quiet, hard-working student who hopes to score high on her high school entrance exams to get into a good high school.

 

Tony Mutethia is a 12 year old boy in class 7.  He came to the centre as a rescue case with his sister, Fiona Kendi.  Tony is a peacemaker in his class, always helping everyone to get along well.

 

Alex Mutethia is a 12 year old boy in class 6.  He came to the centre because he was orphaned.  Alex loves participating in sports, and is one of the fastest sprinters in the school.

Illyvrine Njeri is an 11 year old girl in class 7.  She is the child of a single parent, along with her sister Wamuyu.  Njeri has a big heart and can often be found spending time with the special needs students.

 

Winnie Wamuyu is a 12 year old girl in class 8.  She is the child of a single parent, along with her sister Njeri.  Wamuyu has a great sense of humor and loves to make her friends laugh.

 

Saipaniu Karu is a 14 year old girl in class 8.  Saipaniu is a rescue case who is hearing impaired.  Saipaniu doesn’t let her hearing impairment stop her from learning, even in music class.

 

Depherias Joseph Tinga is a 14 year old boy in class 6.  His siblings are Valentine, Cynthia, Clinton, and Sylvia, and all are children of Tania staff members.  Depherias is a hard worker who likes it best when everyone is getting along.

 

Valentine Joseph is a 10 year old girl in class 3.  Her siblings are Depherias, Cynthia, Clinton, and Sylvia, and all are children of Tania staff members.  Valentine is a shy girl who loves learning everything she can.

 

Cynthia Joseph is a 12 year old girl in class 7.  Her siblings are Depherias, Valentine, Clinton, and Sylvia, an all are children of Tania staff members.  Cynthia tries to set a good example for her younger siblings and enjoys spending time with her friends.

 

Clinton Joseph is a 5 year old boy in class 1.  His siblings are Depherias, Valentine, Cynthia, and Sylvia, and all are children of Tania staff members.  Clinton loves playing games with his classmates and helping his father tend to the sheep.

 

Sylvia Joseph is a 4 year old girl in the baby class.  Her siblings are Depherias, Valentine, Cynthia, and Clinton, and all are children of Tania staff members.  Sylvia is a happy girl who loves to dance with her friends.

 

Abigael Kathambi is a 10 year old girl in class 5.  She and her sister Tiffany are children of Tania staff members.  Abi is a hard-working student who loves to help interpret for her classmates who are deaf.

 

Tiffany Kinya is a 5 year old girl in class 1.  She and her sister Abigael are children of Tania staff members.  Tiffany is a shy girl who loves to help her friends with their English.

 

Franklin Kiriinya is a 10 year old boy in class 4.  He and his brother Brian Ndereva are children of Tania staff members.  Franklin loves to work with his hands and spend time with his friends.

 

Brian Ndereva is an 8 year old boy in class 3.  He and his brother Franklin Kiriijya are children of Tania staff members.  Brian loves to play with the centre’s dogs and make jokes.

 

Terryanne Gatwiri is a 9 year old girl in class 3.  She and her siblings Martin Kimathi and Kelly Joy Mwendwa are children of Tania staff members.  Gatwiri loves being a big sister and is always watching out for her siblings.

 

Martin Kimathi is a 4 year old boy in the baby class.  He and his siblings Terryanne Gatwiri and Kelly Joy Mwendwa are children of Tania staff members.  Martin is a quiet, confident boy who loves to help around the farm.

 

Kelly Joy Mwendwa is a 3 year old girl in the baby class.  She and her siblings Terryanne Gatwiri and Martin Kimathi are children of Tania staff members.  Mwendwa loves practicing the few English phrases she knows, especially “I love you!”

 

Caleb Kimathi is an 11 year old boy in class 6.  He is the child of a Tania staff member.  Caleb enjoys participating in Scouts and spending time with his friends.

 

Sarah Kinya is an 11 year old girl in class 7.  She and her brother George are children of a Tania staff member.  Sarah is an intelligent girl whose honesty and fairness help her to do well in class.

 

George Mwirigi is a 9 year old boy in class 4.  He and his sister Sarah are children of a Tania staff member.  George loves to make people laugh, especially when they’re upset, and he doesn’t mind making himself look silly to do so.

 

Eunice Selena is a 14 year old girl in class 8.  She is the child of a benefactor of Tania.  Eunice focuses on her studies and hopes to be accepted into a good high school next  year.

 

Kennedy Gitonga is a 13 year old boy in class 7.  He is the child of a benefactor of Tania.  Kennedy loves to make people laugh and care for animals.

 

Silas Mayaindo is a 13 year old boy in class 6.  He is the child of a benefactor of Tania.  Silas is a hard-working student who isn’t easily distracted from his studies.

 

Faith Namunyak is a 6 year old girl in class 1.  She is the child of a benefactor of Tania.  Faith is a bold girl who loves working on her English.

 

Grace Toimasi is an 8 year old girl in class 2.  She is the child of a benefactor of Tania.  Grace loves helping the smaller children on the playground.
